At the heart of entrepreneurial revolution
ENTREPRENEURSHIP is flourishing in the North East and statistics show that we're catching up with other regions – although we shouldn't be surprised.
The characteristics that we share across the region are the very attributes that make successful entrepreneurs go on to achieve their goals and exceed their aspirations.
We can’t help but learn from the likes of Tony Trapp, who turned a start-up business in his own home into a £30m-plus operation; Graeme Lowdon, who spearheads a cutting-edge technology firm with a global reach; and Paul Callaghan, who oversees an international empire from right here in the North East.
For many these challenging times provide the inspiration, the excitement and the catalyst – an opportunity to get back to what they do best.
An opportunity to stand out from the crowd, to allow their drive, enthusiasm, commitment and determination to kick in and follow their instinct – an instinct that will do more than get them through.
For others the excitement is tinged with trepidation but the desire is equally strong.
We find inspiration in everyone we meet – the entrepreneurial spirit within the Forum’s community (which now includes those who have joined the burgeoning online community through www.ifwecanyoucan.co.uk) knows no boundaries and the generosity shown by our members in encouraging and nurturing those they meet never ceases to amaze us.
But it doesn’t stop at inspiration – this community represents thousands of years of practical experience (much of it learned the hard way!) and our role is to ensure that more and more entrepreneurs across the region can benefit from the lessons and perspectives of others.
As ever, there are no right or wrong answers but the knowledge that for our members, problems are simply opportunities with thorns on them ...
At a time like this, the fundamental principles on which the Forum has been built over the past six years of sharing experience and knowledge become even more critical – a necessity rather than a luxury.
Like our members who are always hungry for improvement in their business, we never become complacent.
We constantly seek to provide fresh perspectives that reflect the challenge faced to create a spark which will catalyse the growth and sustainability needed to secure the future of the region’s economy.
For those who have been to the conference before, we hope we can exceed your expectations (and that as ‘devoted customers’ you will help us spread the message).
For those who are new to the Forum, speak to our members, be inspired by those profiled on www.ifwecanyoucan.co.uk and please join us on Thursday, May 21 to witness for yourself and be part of the revolution.
