Search for star nears end
Jul 4 2008 By Andrew Hebden
THE search for the inaugural winner of The Journal’s award for non-executive director of the year is nearly over.
The new award will be presented as part of the Business Executive of the Year event later this year.
But the closing date for nominations for the non-executive director category is tomorrow.
It is backed by sponsors including law firm Muckle LLP, North East Chamber of Commerce, CBI, the Alchemists, Barclays, North Star Equity Investors, UBS Wealth Management, Newcastle University, Baker Tilly and Miller UK.
Muckle partner Andrew Davison said: “Having the right non-executive director on the board can bring a wide range of benefits, including access to invaluable experience and specialist knowledge.
“A good non-executive director can also help those running the company to take a step back from the day-to-day activity of managing the business and help them have a fresh look at the longer term plan.”
