Barratt Group celebrates industry awards for site managers

FOUR site managers working for the Barratt Group in the North East have again won awards in a competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain.

Andy Dawson, Adrian Irwin, Graeme Simpson and Mark Summersgill have won Pride in the Job Quality Awards for their excellent standards of workmanship.

Dawson is in charge of the Barratt Burton Woods development in Spennymoor, while Simpson is site manager at Mandale Park, Thornaby.

Irwin and Summersgill are site managers with sister company David Wilson Homes, at Riverside Crescent, Blaydon and Elba Park, Houghton-le-Spring respectively.

They are no strangers to success in the Pride In The Job campaign: last year, all four won Quality Awards and went on to win Seals of Excellence in the next round of judging, while Dawson was presented with the top North East Regional Award.

The awards are organised by the construction standard setting body, the National House-Building Council (NHBC).

They are the most coveted in the industry and are awarded after the NHBC carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.

More than 13,000 site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety. Mike Roberts, managing director of Barratt North East, said: “Once again, our site teams have shown they are among the best in the business and I am extremely proud of their outstanding achievement.

“The awards are the most respected in the industry. Standards are higher and competition is keener than ever before, which underlines the care and skill put into the construction of our new homes.

“Site managers play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality new homes, and these latest successes are not only recognition of their skills and dedication, but give added reassurance to our buyers. It is because we have such confidence in the quality of our build that we remain the only house builder to provide a five-year warranty on the internal fixtures and fittings of our new homes at the time of purchase.”

Across Britain, Barratt Group site managers have won 76 quality awards in this year’s competition – the highest number for an unprecedented eighth consecutive year.
