PEOPLE, property and planet business Gentoo has developed its very own web-based application to help those working in their neighbourhoods to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) head on.
As a registered provider, tackling ASB and supporting victims is high on their agenda and they are committed to ensuring the communities in which they operate are safe places to live. Gentoo has a wealth of experience and expertise when it comes to managing ASB and since 2003 Gentoo’s neighbourhood safety teams have successfully resolved nearly 13,000 cases of ASB and have supported over 400 victims.
Gentoo’s very own ICT case management system Streetwise was developed and designed in-house using the expertise of front-line staff and software developers. This fully functioning web-based application allows neighbourhood teams to monitor and track ASB and other tenancy breaches effectively. It provides a controlled way to record the actions and measures taken to combat ASB and support victims.
Streetwise helps those working on the front line to manage their caseload more effectively, identify hot spot areas, emerging trends and the ability to make faster more informed decisions about how to target resources. Key features of the system include the ability to record and upload detailed information, full audit trails, and direct links into GIS mapping and other reporting software. In addition, it has the ability to link details under the Home Offices recommended risk assessment matrix. Streetwise is now used by over 200 members of staff every single day to help make the communities in which Gentoo operate safer places to live
By applying innovation and creativity Gentoo has not only created a product to be used by their own staff but by other organisations who manage tenancy breaches and ASB cases. This cost effective application is the only ICT product commercially available that has been developed by a registered provider for others in the marketplace. To date Glasgow Housing Association, North Tyneside Homes, Glasgow Community and Safety Services and Greenfields Community Housing have all chosen Streetwise as their preferred ASB case management system.
Mick McCabe, executive director of Housing and Customer Services, Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) said: “The Streetwise software will add to what we already do, by helping us to manage cases of anti social behaviour more efficiently. It will give our staff detailed information at the touch of a button on the history of every case and allow us to see much more clearly where any problem areas are emerging.”
Michelle Meldrum, deputy director, Gentoo Group added: “By using a combination of housing sector knowledge, front-line experience and our IT expertise we can ensure that Streetwise meets the needs of both our business, customers and communities.
As a Group innovation is a key driver of success and we are delighted to be able to help support organisations across the UK to combat anti-social behaviour.”
Gentoo is a strong believer that dreams and ideas can lead to inspiring concepts which in turn can improve the lives of people living and working in our communities.
It is committed to making communities safer and aim to help others to do the same.
