BABCOCK Training is working with a number of employers in a variety of sectors, who have committed to supporting the National Apprenticeship Service campaign to increase Apprenticeships in the workplace.
One business, Babcock Training, is working closely with is O de V Restaurant, owned by Gary Cook and situated on Gateshead’s Quayside. A clear commitment has been made to developing both the kitchen and front of house staff, who have signed up for apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships in their chosen occupation. Vicky Collins, assistant general manager at O de V, said: “I took up the role at O de V while completing my Level 3 Hospitality and Leadership qualification with Babcock Training.
“I wanted all of my staff to complete an apprenticeship or advanced apprenticeships in their job role, as it is a great way to develop their knowledge and to become more confident in their work. Gaining a nationally recognised qualification is very rewarding and opens the doors to some fantastic opportunities.
“I have worked with Babcock Training for the last 12 months and have found the flexibility and reliability of my vocational assessor, Philippa Parsons, extremely helpful. She has adapted her working day to suit my hours of work, to ensure that I have a programme that is individual to meet my needs, and the team at O de V, although early in their programmes have been provided with some excellent resources.”
Philippa Parsons said: “I worked with Vicky while she completed her Front Office qualification at another site.
“When she moved to O de V, during her level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, I followed her there and used the opportunity to recruit new learners. With Vicky’s encouragement, she made the staff aware of the benefits and advantages that their apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships would bring. The team at O de V are all keen to progress and it is a pleasure to work at the site.”
