Lynn makes an impression on sustainable transport

A TRAVEL co-ordinator at Cobalt Business Park who helps promote sustainable travel options, has been shortlisted for best workplace travel plan adviser in the National Travelwise Association (NTWA) awards 2007.
The NTWA is a partnership of local authorities, health sector, academic sector and passenger transport executives working together to promote healthy and sustainable transport.
Lynn Cramman is one of three individuals in the country to be shortlisted for the award and the only nominee from a private sector organisation.
As one of Cobalt’s dedicated travel advisers, Lynn helps to promote and develop sustainable travel options for the 7,500 staff working at the business park and aims to increase the numbers of employees walking, cycling, car-sharing and using public transport to get to work.
Lynn was nominated for the award by Nexus, which plans, promotes and provides public and sustainable transport across Tyne and Wear.
Bernard Garner, director general of Nexus, said: “Cobalt is an example that business parks across the North-East and whole UK should follow in actively promoting sustainable transport.
“High quality public transport and good information about it gives people with access to cars greater choice in commuting, and those without access to cars greater opportunity to find the right job.
“Nexus has invested heavily in high quality public transport for Cobalt and this has paid off, thanks in large to the hard work done by Lynn with businesses and their staff alike. She would be a worthy winner of this important national award.”
Mark Ashall of Highbridge, the developers of Cobalt, said “We have a strong commitment to sustainable travel options and are delighted that Lynn has been nominated for her efforts in encouraging the ‘Cobalt community’ to make their way to and from work in the most environmentally friendly way possible.”
Cobalt is served by a number of high frequency, high quality bus routes, including the Nexus-supported Route 19 and the Go North East 309 ‘Cobalt Clipper’. A new Metro station at Northumberland Park, opened in December 2005, provides access to Cobalt via Route 19 and was used by more than 500,000 passengers in its first year alone.
The final result will be announced at a Gala dinner in November. For further information on travel options to and from Cobalt log on to www.cobaltbusinesspark.com.
