Training for best care possible

WE’VE come a long way in healthcare over the past 60 years and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is the top emergency care provider in the North East.

We are continually looking for ways to improve services for our patients and one such proposal is a new state-of-the-art emergency care centre. This will provide fast, effective emergency care for seriously injured or seriously ill patients throughout North Tyneside and Northumberland, as an addition to the services currently available.

Initial work suggests there could be major benefits for patients if we could create a new central emergency care centre to cater for our most seriously ill patients.

The centre would be staffed by specialists to give patients the best possible care as quickly as possible.

Our district general hospitals will still continue to provide an excellent level of emergency care for those patients who are less seriously ill.

Chief executive Jim Mackey said: “Everyone needs emergency care at some point in their lives. I want our patients to have the best care when they need it.”

Consultants recognised that the faster treatment can begin, the better the outcome for the patients
