GATESHEAD-based construction services company Pyeroy Group has boosted its senior management team with a key appointment.
Kevin Marron, 45, joins as environmental divisional manager overseeing a small team responsible for planning and undertaking contracts surrounding the decommissioning of nuclear and fossil fuel power stations.
He brings more than 25 years’ experience and expertise to the post having held a number of senior management positions with the likes of NEI, Rolls Royce and North East-based Carillion Nuclear Services (formerly Mowlem UK).
Before joining Pyeroy Kevin was general manager for Wakefield-based Controlled Group, heading up its decommissioning division.
Kevin Marron’s move follows the recent appointment of Malcolm Hood as Pyeroy’s director environmental services.
They worked together previously at Carillion and join as the fast growing firm targets the nuclear decommissioning sector as an important area for strategic growth over the next few years.
The company is already on-site at the Torness Power Station near Dunbar, Scotland, and the Sizewell B PWR facility in Suffolk undertaking initial assessment and secondary containment work ahead of announcements over longer term contracts.
Kevin Marron said: “I’m delighted to be linking up with Malcolm once again and look forward to the challenge that lies ahead as Pyeroy expands its activities, particularly in the nuclear decommissioning sector.
“Although there is already a strong resource of skilled people within the business, I will be looking to augment this through the recruitment of additional expertise, which will allow us to improve the range of services we offer.”
Malcolm Hood said: “Kevin’s extensive management experience and operational expertise will be invaluable, while also adding to our reputation for providing customers with the highest standards of service and technical support.”
The Pyeroy Group employs 900 people from its headquarters in Gateshead. In addition to nuclear decommissioning, the company provides a range of services that comprise scaffolding, industrial painting, marine protective coatings, construction works and environmental management services.
