New recruits broaden appeal

CREATIVE agency Calm Asylum has changed the face of its business with the appointment of three new employees.

The agency at Riverside Park, Middlesbrough, which will celebrate its 10th birthday this year, has recruited the staff to broaden its current service offering and introduce a diverse new skills set to the now 11-strong team.

Bianca Robinson, 35, has joined as creative project manager and brings over 15 years’ media and marketing experience to Calm Asylum. Originally from New Zealand, Bianca worked for a range of creative industries across the country before settling in the North East in 2002.

With a degree in visual communication and design, majoring in advertising and marketing, she will be responsible for managing the delivery team and business development within the public sector.

Bianca said: “I had heard about Calm Asylum’s reputation for delivering cutting-edge digital work and I knew that this was the type of company that I could see myself working for.

“After approaching the company directly, I was extremely excited when this position became available.”

The second recruit to the team is Andrew McCarron, 29, who joins as digital project manager. Andrew has a degree in computer communications and previously worked as a web developer for Geonet Solutions in Darlington. He will be responsible for a wide range of duties within the digital department, such as managing client expectations and research and development of projects.

Andrew said: “Calm is very well-known within the digital industry and when the job arose it was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed.”

Originally from Glasgow, Dan Lawman, 31, is the new business development manager. Specialising in digital media, Dan brings over nine years’ experience to the agency.

He said: “All the services Calm Asylum offer are completed in-house which I feel is a great benefit to the client.”

The recruits are joining the company as a result of recent account wins and an increase in client activity.
