Alison Patterson, director of Dalesman (Newcastle) said: “We have come a long way since the merger of the two business and are now in a strong position within the foods markets.
“We haven't suffered at all as a result of the downturn, with the products that we serve still selling well among consumers.”
The Newcastle business, which recently gained British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification, is looking to penetrate new markets in addition to those in the North East and Cumbria, and has targeted Glasgow and Edinburgh as the next locations to focus on.
“I genuinely believe that we are one of the best at what we do, which has helped us to continue growing,” Mrs Patterson said. “The next phase is moving into new markets and growing our staff here in the North East following the move into much bigger premises.
“Now we have the extra space, I am confident we can continue to move forward.”
