On the move in the fast lane

KEEPING products and raw materials moving for the manufacturing and engineering Industry is all in a day’s work for one fast-growing logistics firm.

The Logistix Group has expertise across a range of sectors – food, retail, automotive, consumer goods, manufacturing and engineering and industrial.

As a consolidator, the company also combines many small shipments into full containers, offering loads at cost-effective rates.

And its workload includes dealing with the transportation of hazardous goods – which takes in everything from chemicals to cosmetics.

“Hazardous goods can include everything from powdered chemicals, gas canisters, cosmetics and deodorants,” said Azim Hussain, managing director at the firm.

“We carry products all over the UK – and even internationally as we carry paint to Spain.

“We also work in the pharmaceutical sector, plus we transport raw materials to production sites.”

With health and safety key, drivers transporting such loads have dangerous goods driver licenses. Logistix Group also has its own dangerous goods adviser.

The company which started life in Stockton in 2006, has had a fast and furious ride over the past three years – acquiring the assets and goodwill of two haulage companies, opening sites in Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester and growing their trailer hire fleet to around 300 and workforce to 70.

The group has a strong customer base from local traders to blue-chip clients. It is also working on its green credentials.

It has invested in a fleet of eco-friendly vehicles to reduce impact on the environment and planned more off-peak deliveries to allow faster shipment of goods to their final destination.

And it doesn’t stop there.

The company also plans to further expand its operations into Europe, which already account for 45% of Logistix’s overall trade.
