Dedicated to helping you

INHERENT Energy, based in Blaydon, was founded four years ago and since then it has become renowned throughout the UK for installing robust renewable energy solutions, coupled with long-term financial benefit.

It is dedicated to identifying and utilising renewable sources of energy. It advises, designs and installs the most beneficial and cost-effective solution, tailored specifically to each client.

Leading the field in applying the most up-to-date technology, it works extensively with solar photovoltaics (including building integrated PV or BIPV), solar thermal, wind turbines, ground source and air source heat pumps.

One of Inherent Energy’s current projects hit the headlines recently. The £100,000 contract was awarded via Durham Country Council, by the Esh Group, which has a commitment to ensuring sustainability and protection of the environment.

This project will involve the supply and installation of solar photovoltaic panels in a new workshop which is being built at Seaham Dock, as part of the area’s regeneration. These panels will not only ensure that the cost of electricity used will be lower, but that resulting carbon dioxide emissions will also be reduced.

Also within the last few weeks, at the Ecobuild exhibition held at Earl’s Court, London, Inherent Energy was pleased to win several new contracts worth more than a quarter of a million pounds. These latest clients include a major national retail chain and a housing association which is using the Government’s Community Sustainable Energy Programme (CSEP) to obtain a substantial grant for the work which is to be carried out. There was also considerable interest from domestic homeowners eager to take advantage of the soon to be introduced UK feed-in tariff and export tariff.

The feed-in tariff, which will be regulated by Ofgem, takes effect from 1 April this year and offers homeowners a financial incentive for utilising renewable energy in the form of solar photovoltaic panels up to 5MW.

Solar photovoltaics panels produce a considerable amount of electricity through harnessing the energy of the sun. Homeowners who implement and use this technology will be paid up to 41.3p per kWh by their relevant energy company. This will give the average household a rate of return of around 9%, guaranteed for 25 years – a much better return than given by most investments.

In addition, the export tariff will give an additional fixed income for every kilowatt hour of electricity which is generated and sold back to the grid. These two incentives are certainly proving to be strong drivers in the campaign to encourage the UK to embrace renewable energy.

The firm is also experiencing increased interest from homeowners in Scotland regarding the interest-free loans currently being offered there to help people install micro renewables.

Ed Balls’ recent announcement of a similar scheme in England to commence later in 2010 will allow for similar growth in demand in the North East. Inherent Energy is working with several companies in the North East on self-financing initiatives, which are now possible with the introduction of the feed-in tariff. It is seeing a great level of interest from commercial and public sector bodies wishing to meet carbon reduction commitment targets without the need for excessive capital expenditure.

So what’s the next chapter for the team? It intends to continue building an excellent national reputation for providing energy solutions based on developing technology, supported by its regular, high-profile projects. It is committed to maintaining its expert knowledge of the latest materials and techniques, which it will use to benefit clients in the most cost-effective way possible.
