Meeting sees hand over of NECC's president position

THE latest meeting for the leading members of the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) took place recently, to discuss the changing economic landscape in the region and the UK.

NECC Partners met on Friday, September 23 at Gateshead College’s Greenhouse Brasserie, which opened in early 2010, and were joined by special guest Dennis Turner, chief economist at HSBC.

NECC head of partners Jo Fryett said: “Having a speaker of Dennis Turner’s stature certainly provided a fantastic talking point for our latest event.

“Dennis is a superb speaker and his abundant knowledge and economic expertise helped to create a very lively debate.”

The meeting was also the opportunity for NECC president and former head of partners, John Mowbray, to formally hand over his responsibility to Alastair Thomson of Partner Member Teesside University.

Jo Fryett added: “On behalf of NECC partners I would like to thank John Mowbray for his tireless efforts. I would also like to extend our congratulations to Alastair Thomson and I am confident he will continue the work which John has accomplished.”
