Putting Newcastle Gateshead on world stage

NEWCASTLEGATESHEAD is an extremely powerful way of encouraging people to bring conferences and events to North East England, but sometimes we have to take a taste of NewcastleGateshead to them to really get the message across.
Taking part in major trade exhibitions is an effective way of cementing the destination’s reputation as a place to host major international or domestic conferences.
That’s why the Convention Bureau will be at International Confex at London’s Earl’s Court next week, ensuring we are front of mind when national and international conference organisers choose the ideal conference destination for their clients.
The show is the event industry’s largest UK trade show and exhibiting in front of roughly 10,000 visitors at the three-day event enables the Bureau to highlight our track record of staging major events.
Exhibitions also bring in big business and at last year’s Confex the Bureau secured National Union of Students’ flagship annual conferences for this year and 2011, with an estimated economic impact to the local economy of over £1.5m. Other major events secured at leading trade shows include The British Sociological Association and the European Society for Paediatric Research.
Exhibitions are just one of the ways NewcastleGateshead’s message is carried abroad. Members of our Conference Ambassador Programme frequently attend international conferences to present bids to bring those events to the destination.
From Zurich to Toronto and Rio de Janeiro, our conference ambassadors are out there spreading the word and winning business, all with the support of NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau.
The Bureau provides the destination marketing material and bespoke bid documentation, the conference ambassadors provide the expertise and networks and together this creates a winning partnership.
