Closerlook at Asian markets

By David Coppock, international trade director, UK Trade & Investment (North East)

INTERNATIONAL trade experts from 12 Asian markets will converge in Newcastle later this month for a special event giving North-East firms an insight into the business opportunities they offer.

The Asia Task Force has been organised by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in partnership with the Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest and is supported by the Confederation of British Industry, Institute of Directors, British Chambers of Commerce, Engineering Employers’ Federation, China-Britain Business Council and UK India Business Council.

The team of experts is touring the country and will be in the North-east for one day only on Wednesday, November 24, at Newcastle Racecourse, High Gosforth Park, from 8.45am until 3.30pm.

The morning session will be devoted to market clinics with briefings focusing on the 12 Asian markets featured - China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and South Korea - from the senior trade representatives in the UK Embassies and High Commissions.

There will also be a chance to hear from companies already successfully doing business in Asia and take part in interactive question and answer sessions with experts from the markets of your choice.

The afternoon will offer delegates a chance to have one-to-one sessions with financial, legal and UKTI experts about their own individual circumstances and the opportunities the markets may offer.

Delegates will also have the chance to network with others in a similar position and find out about the wide range of UKTI services available to help.

Research has shown time and again that companies that export are more resilient and successful companies are always looking for new markets. This event provides a great chance to find out about not one, but 12 different markets - the opportunities that are available, practical advice on how to succeed in Asia today and the support available to help.

The event costs £75+VAT and places can be booked online at www.businessinasia.co.uk
