Peers say Harland is the best

North-East accountancy Harland has won special recognition for its consulting skills. The firm, which is based in Consett and Newcastle, has beaten tough competition to be named Accounting Firm of the Year for consulting at the Accounting Firm of the Year Awards 2007/8 in London.

The award, sponsored by AVN The Accountants, is the only award of its kind where the winners are actually chosen by a panel of more than 200 fellow accountants.

Presenting the award, AVN chairman Steve Pipe said: "Competition was very tough, but even so Harland were clear winners.

"They are redefining what businesses should expect from their accountants, and blazing a trail for other accountants to follow. It is so good to see accountants helping their clients to grow, helping them to create jobs and helping them to become more successful.

"Harland are an extraordinary firm, and fully deserve the recognition."

Harland partner Glyn Davison said: "This is a huge achievement and special praise should go to everyone who has contributed to our consulting team.

"Our main focus is to help our clients grow; help them create jobs and help them become more successful. We work passionately to improve their personal net worth and to improve the quality of our clients' lives. For Harland to have the recognition given to us by our peers is a real honour."

The firm last year won the regional firm of the year title in the same awards.
