President’s visit forges new links to Iceland

THE President of Iceland, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, was the guest of honour at a breakfast in Leeds hosted by Newcastle law firm Dickinson Dees.

Mark Warburton, the Honorary Consul of Iceland in Leeds and Corporate Finance Partner at Dickinson Dees’ Yorkshire office said: “We are truly honoured to welcome the President of Iceland to the city of Leeds.

“His visit is a mark of the progress being made in increasing business and cultural links between Iceland and the UK. As someone who has been dealing with corporate transactional work between Iceland and the Yorkshire and Humber region for the last 15 years, and who has more recently become involved in Icelandic Consular work, I am particularly pleased that these business and cultural links are flourishing. The support and interest of the business community in relation to the visit has been extensive.”

At the breakfast meeting, the President met representatives of businesses with Icelandic connections, hoping to increase trade with Iceland. The meeting was hosted by Jean Dent, director of development at Leeds City Council.
