Income grows by 23% in record year for Sintons

NEWCASTLE-based solicitors Sintons LLP has announced a 23% annual rise in gross fee income.

The practice, which acts for some of the North East’s best known companies, organisations and individuals, reached a record fee income of £8.2m (unaudited) in the year to January 31, 2008.

Chairman Jim Dias said: “This is a very pleasing result for the whole firm It reflects the extensive quality work we do for our clients both in the North East and beyond.

“This growth has been driven by both new client wins and doing more work for existing clients which is a very healthy and encouraging position for the future.”

The firm has doubled in size in four years. The greatest area of growth was in commercial work where revenue is up by almost 40%.

Partner Christopher Welch, joint head of the company & commercial department said: “We have acted on transactions with a total value in excess of £500m this year. With the capital gains tax changes coming into effect from April 2008, we also have an extremely busy few months ahead of us.

“We have acted in many sales and acquisitions this year for clients in the North East particularly. We continue to provide a partner led, value for money and very personal service which seems to increasingly differentiate us from many other firms.”

The Commercial Property team was strengthened last year with several senior hires from other firms. Clients now include The Church Commissioners, where partner Paul Liddle completed the sale of their London head office to the House of Lords for £65m, SITA, Northumbrian Water and HJ Banks.
