Senior accountant moves North

KPMG in Newcastle has attracted senior accountant Nick Plumb from Manchester to become an audit partner at its Quayside office.

Plumb had been with KPMG in Manchester for 13 years, the last five at partner level. His client portfolio has included a good number of the North’s largest consumer goods and retail brands including Co-op Group, SSL International, Pets at Home, Muller Dairy and Adidas in addition to manufacturers, technology companies and football clubs.

He has extensive experience of advising listed companies through the transition to IFRS and the ongoing changes in the accounting and regulatory environment. He is also Transaction Services accredited and will support Chris Stott, KPMG’s head of Transaction Services in the North East in his drive to consolidate KPMG’s strong market position in the region.

He has been KPMG’s Head of Retail in the North for three years and will continue to be a senior figure in the sector group.

Plumb said: “There is a real buzz to doing business in this part of the world and I jumped at the chance of moving here.

“Our Newcastle office has been really successful in the last few years and I am looking forward to working with the team here to continue the growth story.

“There are many people in the business community that I am eager to meet and work with, bringing to them the KPMG approach, centred on really understanding our clients businesses and the challenges they face.”

Mick Thompson, senior audit partner, said: “Attracting Nick to the North East was a major coup for us.

“He has been an instrumental part of our hugely successful Manchester office and he brings valuable experience and enthusiasm to our delivery of first class professional services to a growing client portfolio.”
