Partner beefs up the team at KPMG

FINANCIAL and professional services firm KPMG has a new partner.

David Elliott, formerly of Price- waterhouseCoopers in Newcastle, has joined KPMG as a tax partner.

Mr Elliott said: “KPMG is a powerful force within the North East’s business community and I am excited to be joining such a dynamic office at a time of growth.

“I’m very much looking forward to playing a major part in continuing the success story, through delivering tax advice that helps clients to meet their business objectives by really listening to what’s on their agenda and responding with innovative ideas, delivered by the 48-strong tax team here in the Newcastle office.”

David, who lives in the Tyne Valley, has worked in the North East throughout his 22-year career, during which he has advised a wide range of businesses, from entrepreneurial small and medium-sized enterprises, to large plcs and international businesses including Mills Group, Barratt Developments and Eastman Chemical.

Richard Bottomley, KPMG’s office senior partner in Newcastle said: “To attract someone of David’s calibre to KPMG is a real coup for us. He will be working alongside tax partner John Campbell to help our clients manage the major business cost that taxes represent and help them to structure transactions and business operations in the most efficient way.

“David’s appointment comes hot on the heels of Nick Plumb’s who joined in January, bringing partner level expertise to our audit practice. It’s excellent to be making such clear demonstrations of our intention to continue the KPMG growth story here in the North East.”

Last week we referred to Mick Thompson, KPMG’s new senior office partner in Newcastle, as a lawyer, when he is a trained accountant.
