Pentagon purchase is a milestone for HVR

LAW firm Watson Burton has advised fast-growing Jarrow firm HVR International on the purchase of a Birmingham-based company, Pentagon Electrical Products Limited.

The Newcastle firm smoothed through the acquisition by HVR International, which produces carbon ceramic high voltage high-energy resistors that it sells worldwide to key markets in the USA, China, Russia and South America.

The Jarrow factory now exports 96% of its goods and has full order books for the year.

The company is also doubling its space at Bede Industrial Estate and creating up to 12 new jobs this summer to help to meet growing customer demand. It currently employs 75 people at Jarrow.

HVR International began trading in the early 1990s. It now supplies components for the world's leading manufacturer of wind turbines in Europe, and many of China’s hydropower stations.

Pentagon Electrical Products Limited was an important purchase for HVR International because its resistor technology works hand in hand with the products manufactured in the North East, providing customers with a unique package.

Watson Burton corporate associate Robin Adams worked with HVR International managing director Alan Wilson to complete the purchase of the Midlands company.

Robin Adams said: “HVR International is an excellent example of a traditional North East manufacturing firm which has adapted to new markets and become a worldwide market leader as a result.

“The purchase of Pentagon was a key milestone for the company, providing an excellent fit, and protecting all jobs for Pentagon employees.”

Alan Wilson said: “We are delighted to welcome Pentagon to the family of HVR International companies. Our company is growing fast, with 20% organic growth at Jarrow and the purchase of a German company last October and Pentagon this February.

“Watson Burton helped the purchase complete smoothly and on time. As a result we have more experienced people and resources to help fulfil orders from customers worldwide.”
