President drops in at fast-growing law firm

THE president of the Law Society popped in to meet solicitors at Winns in Newcastle on his latest trip to the North East.

Paul Marsh was treated to an explanation of the firm’s training system which has meant qualifications for administration assistants and legal clerks as well as solicitors.

Earlier this year Winns had great success at the UXL Awards in Newcastle. Six employees were nominated for Administration Apprentice of the Year 2008, which one employee went on to win.

The growth of the company has led to Winns creating jobs in the North East. In March alone 23 employees have been hired.

Winn Solicitors managing director Jeff Winn said: “I am delighted with the interest from the president in the North East and developing personal injury market.

“It has been very useful to receive an insight into the future plans of the Law Society.”

Mr Marsh said: “During my tenure as president of the Law Society I have found great value in visiting firms, such as Winns, around the country.

“This was a great opportunity to meet up with a prominent law firm in the area and talk about the future of the profession. Sharing views about the issues currently affecting solicitors allows us, the Law Society, to ensure we represent our members effectively.

“Winns has shown a commitment to providing a quality legal service to clients. Good business practice has resulted in company growth, which is good news for clients, Winns and the region.”
