MORE than 70 of the region's professional business advisers attended a Wake Up To Summer barbecue on Newcastle's Quayside.
Senior representatives of law and accountancy firms and banks turned out for the evening at the Pitcher & Piano hosted by regional fund management firm NEL Fund Managers.
NEL chief executive Barrie Hensby says: “Many of the business investment opportunities that come to us do so through our contacts within the regional professional services community, and this event provided an opportunity to say thank you to them for their help in making these deals happen.
“NEL is an active investor in North East businesses in a wide range of sectors, and despite the current difficult economic conditions, we’re continuing to make investments in companies right across the region who want to make the most of opportunities that are arising now which will make a big difference to their commercial ambitions.
“NEL Fund Managers provides equity, debt and mezzanine finance investments to businesses across the region, and has been making over 200 investments in the last five years.”
