She decided to return to education and studied business at Tyne Met College in North Tyneside. At one point, she was juggling three part-time jobs while studying and looking after her children as a single mother.
Now happily remarried, she decided to start Scarlet Bridge to draw on her own business and life experiences.
“All my clients are different and need a range of support from personal development, business planning to marketing and web design,” said Ms Bourtons.
“I get a real thrill helping to make things happen even if a client has a limited budget. Most people don’t realise that there may be funding of up 100% available so in some cases they could get our services for free.”
She says being nominated for the award is thanks to the hard work of all her team members.
“It’s great to be able to look back at all the businesses Scarlet Bridge has helped over the past 12 months and see them moving forward in the right direction,” said Ms Bourtons.
“It’s a great reflection of the hard work of the Scarlet Bridge team. I am very proud of them.”
