A HOTEL extension in a North East market town has been funded with support from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Beaumont Hotel in Hexham has undergone an £1.5m extension, creating an additional 10 rooms at the back of the existing building. Work has also been carried out to convert some of the smaller single rooms into twin and double rooms to meet growing demand.
The hotel, which is owned by husband and wife Martin and Linda Owen, now provides 35 rooms with a mixture of single, twin, double and family rooms.
Mr Owen said: “We wanted an extension that would compliment the façade of the existing hotel building and that would provide the additional much needed rooms to meet the demand we experience over the spring and summer time periods.
“This is an exciting time for everyone connected to the hotel and we look forward to welcoming more guests through the doors and sharing our improvements.”
Michael Cross, relationship manager, business and commercial banking at RBS, Newcastle, said: “Martin and Linda have worked very hard on the extension and refurbishment of existing rooms and have established the hotel as one of the best places to stay in Hexham. We are very happy to have assisted the development of this successful business.”
Beaumont Hotel currently employs 35 staff. The extension has created an additional three jobs, including a duty manager position to take on additional responsibility from the Owens.
