Recruiting is key to growth in tax field

BUSINESS advisory firm Deloitte in Newcastle has appointed Andrew Coticelli as its new director in corporate tax as it continues its rapid growth in that field.
This appointment means staff numbers in the tax department have risen from 14 to 35 over the last three years with revenues tripling in the same period from £1.25m to £3.5m.
Despite opting to close its Newcastle corporate finance operation earlier this year the practice it still producing a strong performance witnessed by its recruitment of 16 graduates in this September’s intake.
The Newcastle practice’s fees income for 12 months to May this year are expected to come in at around the previous year’s figure of £24m.
The appointment of Mr Coticelli follows on from the recognition of the talents of the firm’s most recently appointed tax partner Stephen Hall.
Mr Coticelli, who is relocating from the Leeds office, said: “I am really excited about the role. It is a great opportunity to work with existing clients, but also to help further grow the business.
“There are some very significant corporate groups in the region which I am keen to demonstrate my skills with.”

Promoted to tax partner with Deloitte in Newcastle in June 2008, Stephen Hall was crowned tax advisor of the year at this year’s North East Accountancy Awards.
Stephen’s portfolio includes advisory services for Bannatyne Fitness, Wellstream, Merit Holdings and Southern Cross Healthcare.
