COMMERCIAL law firm Muckle has worked with The Archbishop of York in drafting the constitution for his new Youth Trust, as well as registering it with the Charity Commission.
The Youth Trust has been set up to enable young people make a difference to their communities while developing themselves spiritually.
Hugh Welch, senior partner at Muckle, has been asked to act as chairman on the Board of Trustees for the new charity. Muckle carried out the work for Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, on an unpaid basis as part of its commitment to community.
Mr Welch said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be asked to get involved with The Archbishop of York’s new Youth Trust and it’s very exciting for us to help in any way we can.
“Joanne Davison from our commercial services group, who specialises in charity law, has undertaken much of the work in writing the constitution for the new Trust and she has done a fantastic job over the past few years developing our reputation in the charity sector.
“Muckle has developed its Community Programme over the past 10 years and we have a charitable fund that the Community Foundation holds for us, allowing us to provide grants for a wide variety of voluntary organisations, including £5,000 which we donated to the Archbishop of York’s Trust.
Archbishop Dr John Sentamu said: “I want the Trust to send a message out to passionate young people that they can make a positive difference in their local communities. They really can be the change they want to see in the world.”
