NEWCASTLE law firm Sintons has recognised the work of some of its solicitors with promotion – as well as recruiting a new practice manger.
Phil Ridley has joined the firm as practice director, replacing Murray Magowan, who has retired after 10 years at Sintons, while Chris Patton, Alok Loomba and Kate Jenkins have all been made associates.
Sintons chairman Jim Dias said: “I am very pleased on behalf of my fellow partners to welcome Phil to the firm.
“We searched extensively for the right person to help lead the firm through its next stage of growth. Phil has strong commercial and personal qualities which will be invaluable as Sintons develops over the next few years.”
Chris Patton began his career at Sintons as a trainee solicitor in 2003 and, having gained experience across a wide range of legal issues, he now specialises in personal injury.
He is also heavily involved in Sintons’ graduate recruitment programme.
Alok Loomba, who joined Sintons from Hay & Kilner 18 months ago, is a commercial property lawyer who specialises in the leisure and healthcare sectors.
He advised on the property aspects of the recent £10m refinancing of North Tyneside pub and care home operator the Ladhar Group, whose activities include care homes and licensed premises in the North East and further afield.
Kate Jenkins has been with Sintons for just over a year, having joined from Austin Sanders in Darlington and specialises in personal injury.
Mr Dias added: “It always give me great pleasure to see talented people thrive here. We nurture people and have high aspirations of them. I’m proud of Kate, Chris and Alok and wish them every success.”
Sintons employs 160 staff, including 85 lawyers, of whom 22 are partners.
The firm serves national and regional clients that include Church Commissioners for England, SITA, Northumbrian Water, Hunting plc, Home Group, NUFC, Secretary of State for Health, Thompsons of Prudhoe, TSG, Ladhar Group, Trinity Medical Properties, Allied Irish Bank, Dunbar Bank, Virgin Mary Trust, Holystone, Amec plc, Arriva plc and H J Banks.
