MARK Whitaker – one of the region’s leading corporate bankers – is joining business rescue, recovery and restructuring specialist Begbies Traynor as director of business development covering the North East and Yorkshire.

Mr Whitaker joins from Santander – formerly Alliance and Leicester – where he was head of West Yorkshire business centre and, latterly, business development director.

He also spent 25 years with Yorkshire Bank and headed its corporate operation in Leeds.
