LAW firm Emmersons has helped a new motorbike training school head into the fast lane after securing its first business premises.
Emmersons, which has offices in Newcastle and Sunderland, has successfully negotiated a five-year lease of 15,000 sq ft of land with a mobile unit to allow the launch A1 Motor Cycle Training School.
With the help of commercial property solicitor John Coulter, Richard Scott has begun trading from Henson Yard in Gateshead, taken on two members of staff and helped 100 people get motorbike licenses in four months.
Emmersons solicitor John Coulter said: “We had to negotiate a large piece of land plus a mobile office unit, which houses a changing room, office area and basic training classroom.
“The surface on the land was poor, so we had to agree the maintenance of this with the landlord. We managed to negotiate this within the contract and the landlord agreed to contribute towards the upkeep of the road surface.
“We were very thorough in this matter which will avoid long-term problems for Mr Scott.
“This shows we can deal with all kinds of commercial issues, whether it is the lease, sale or purchase of a business and its premises, as well as offering advice on the content of leases and other business arrangements.”
A1 Motor Cycle Training School director Richard Scott said: “Emmersons was instrumental in helping my business get off the ground. Not only did they negotiate the lease of the training yard, but they also gave me employment advice when I took on my two staff - a receptionist and a fully qualified motorbike instructor.
“Without their swift and methodical advice, I wouldn’t have been able to launch the business when I did and I certainly wouldn’t have seen the growth I have experienced already.”
