Corporate banking team is expanded

Tony Leech

HSBC Corporate Banking has strengthened its North East team with two new appointments.

Marc Gorton joins as global relationships manager and Andy Parker as corporate banking manager to further strengthen the team which provides support to businesses with a turnover of more than £25m.

Mr Gorton will spend much of his time with clients operating globally, providing access to HSBC’s international network and cross-border banking solutions.

Mr Parker will offer expert support to businesses trading solely in the UK as well as those trading overseas.

Tony Leech, HSBC head of corporate banking for the North East, said: “Both Marc and Andy join us to support our customers as we emerge from recession.

“Despite a challenging two years, we are seeing renewed optimism amongst the business community therefore we have strengthened our team to help local businesses navigate a successful path - both domestically and internationally.”

Mr Gorton joined the bank from university in 1997 and since then has successfully undertaken roles within private banking as well as in credit and risk, debt and commercial banking.

He said: “I am looking forward to what will be a challenging role, underpinned by the opportunity to work directly with a host of major international corporate businesses across the North East.

Mr Parker has worked at the bank for more than 25 years and will be based in the Newcastle office in his new role.

He too began his career at HSBC and spent 12 years in London before moving to the North East.

He said: “Having worked in Newcastle for the past few years, I’m pleased to have secured the new role to continue providing support for businesses in the area – albeit in a corporate capacity rather than a commercial one.”
