RHK adds three new members to its team

ACCOUNTANTS and business advisors RHK has added three new members to its team on the strength of its growing revenues and further success in handling the tax affairs of sports stars and celebrities.

Led by tax partner Brad Thomas, the small North East practice has made a big name for itself outside the region.

The Gateshead-based firm’s continued success in securing clients in the sports and entertainment field means it now has staff working in London on a regular basis, with the potential of opening an office in the capital at some point.

Thomas said: “The appointments follow on from another successful financial year for RHK, where turnover in difficult times increased by 10%.

“We have recently been given instructions to act in relation to the UK tax affairs of clients of the world’s largest rugby and cricket sports management agency, as well as dealing with the tax affairs of a London-based management agency for actors and actresses.

“In view of a significant increase in clients in the South East, and the fact that we usually have two people in London on a regular basis, we may establish a permanent office in the future.”

Thomas said that to accommodate the additional workflow gained from existing clients and its client base in London, it is looking for further recruits to its tax department.

It now handles the tax affairs of scores of Premier League footballers, sports stars and many other figures from the entertainment world.

Donna Liddle joined RHK’s corporate services department in February after working in the audit and accounts department and Haines Watts for over five years. She is currently studying for her ACCA qualification.

Nicola Marshall has joined the tax department after working in tax for three years at Charlton Williamson. She is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians and recently passed her chartered tax adviser exams.

Karen Whiting has joined the team as tax director. Since her appointment she has been involved in advising owner-managed businesses on restructure and succession planning, tax-efficient extraction of profits, application for Enterprise Investment Scheme approval and qualification for film tax relief.
