LAW firm Watson Burton has announced promotions of two of its most talented solicitors to associates.
Paul Wigham and Patrick Kemp have been promoted after a number of years with the Newcastle firm working in the corporate and construction groups, respectively.
Wigham has specialised in corporate law since 2006 after completing his training contract with Watson Burton. Since then he has acted for a variety of clients across a range of sectors, from owner managed businesses to large multi-national corporate clients.
He specialises in acquisitions, disposals and private equity investments as well as the provision of general funding advice.
His most recent experience includes providing advice to a group of multi-national private equity investors based in the USA, Europe and the Middle East on their investment into a technology company and acting for a charity on the restructuring of its banking facilities.
Patrick Kemp began working for the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2003. After qualifying as a solicitor in 2005, he joined the firm’s construction and engineering group, acting for developers, funders, main contractors, specialist sub-contractors, house builders and consultants.
He has extensive experience of litigation in the Technology & Construction Court, including adjudication enforcement proceedings. Patrick also has a vast knowledge of adjudication, arbitration and mediation.
Duncan Reid, head of corporate at Watson Burton, said: “We are delighted to announce the promotions of these individuals. Both Paul and Patrick have worked extremely hard for the firm over the years and thoroughly deserve this acknowledgement of their dedication.”
Roddy Gordon, Watson Burton’s head of construction and engineering said: “As a firm we are committed to recognising the talent and hard work of our personnel and we take great pride in watching their careers progress with us. To promote two employees who began with us as trainee solicitors is extremely satisfying and we wish them luck in their new position.”
