Law firm Watson Burton handles deals worth £225m this year

COMMERCIAL law firm Watson Burton has advised on deals in excess of £225m during this year.

Despite the challenging market, the firm’s highly-regarded corporate group has been involved in a number of successful deals, acting for both national and international clients such as WS Atkins plc, National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), Lansinoh Laboratories, Tanfield Group plc, NorthStar Ventures, IP Group plc and HG1 Ltd.

Duncan Reid, head of corporate at Watson Burton, said: “We have seen in increase in activity this year which has resulted in the firm advising on a wide range of matters, including private equity investments, acquisitions and disposals and academy conversions as well as banking and commercial matters – all of which were successfully completed.

Highlights of the year include advising WS Atkins plc on the acquisition of global consulting and engineering company Poyry plc for £15m. As one of the world’s leading engineering and design consultancies, Atkins now owns the oil and gas business of Poyry plc’s energy group, further strengthening the company’s service offerings to the sector.
