A jazz trumpeter.

£2. I spent my first wages on an EP record - that shows how old I am. EP meant Extended Play 45rpm record - of Bad Penny Blues by Humphrey Lyttleton.

What's your dream job, other than your current one?

Anything where I am protecting the environment.

What's the best piece of business advice you have received?

Never underestimate your own capabilities.

And the worst?

Don't listen to your staff.

What is your philosophy when it comes to business?

Never be afraid to start something new - keep ahead of your competitors.

What are your hobbies?

Fly fishing, scuba diving, canoeing, walking, birdwatching and cycling.

What's your top business or financial tip?

Always keep a careful eye on your cash flow and don't be afraid to take risks.

Does anything scare you and if so what?

Not really.

What would you choose as your epitaph?

Always look on the bright side of life.
