What did you want to be when you were young?

I originally trained as a nurse, and soon realised that unwell people were often grumpy, hence the change of direction.

How much was your first pay packet and what did you spend it on?

If I remember correctly, for my first month I earned £90. As most girls do, I spent it mainly on clothes, as well as sweets for my younger brother and sisters.

What’s your dream job, other than your current one?

My ideal job would be as an interior designer. I would love to be able to create something truly special for people, and to turn their dreams into reality.

What’s the best piece of business advice you have received?

I was told many years ago that you learn more by listening than by being listened to. It’s particularly true in property sales, but at times you also need to be able to ask the right questions.

And the worst?

Talk a good talk! Honesty really is the best policy, especially when selling property. With property sales, you will not get far by pulling the wool over people’s eyes. Be approachable and personable and gain trust and respect that way.

What is your philosophy when it comes to business?

Treat people with respect and be honest, and be aware of changing trends. The first two win you repeat business and the second will keep you ahead of the competition.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy anything relaxing, particularly when it involves good company, good food, good wine and chocolates. I also do quite a lot of walking to get rid of the excess pounds from the chocolates.

What’s your top business or financial tip?

Only spend what you can comfortably afford, especially in this uncertain economic climate.

Does anything scare you and if so what?

Snakes and heights.

What would you choose as your epitaph?

Gone to Estate Agents upstairs!
