Philip Askew to follow in the family footsteps

PHILIP Askew is following in the family footsteps by entering the firm of solicitors set up almost 75 years ago by his grandfather and great uncle.

He is one of three trainee solicitors to join the firm’s Thornaby office in the conveyancing department, while Philip Masters and Stephanie Sturgeon join the litigation department. Askews has also appointed associate solicitors Joanne Jackson, a wills and probate specialist and Tracy Stephenson a matrimonial and family law specialist to the Thornaby team.

THE Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Teesside Network has voted Jill Gibson junior vice chairman. Next year, Jill, a lead electrical engineer for AMEC in Darlington, will take up the role of senior vice chairman for two years before becoming the first female chair.

STOCKTON-BASED Baines Jewitt Chartered Accountants welcomes Sarah Goodenough as a trainee accountant. Sarah graduated from Durham University with a business finance degree before commencing her training with the firm.

WAYNE Berry is celebrating promotion after graduating from a business support role at stockbrokers Wise Speke in Thornaby, to trainee investment advisor. Wayne joined Wise Speke last year after completing an economics degree at Northumbria University. He recently passed two essential investment industry qualifications in financial regulation and investment management and is now approved to provide investment advice.

HARTLEPOOL-BORN Katy Tindall has returned to the North-east to take up the role of PR and communications co-ordinator for the Make Your Mark campaign, based in Middlesbrough.
