Christmas on credit

DELOITTE said more people in the North-east than anywhere else had spent money on Christmas by mid November - an average of £195.32.

And if research for Sainsbury’s Card is correct, much of it will have been on credit.

Last year, it said UK adults spent £1.66bn on cards in preparation for the festive season.
