All smiles as dental practice wins award

A TEESSIDE dental practice is celebrating after being crowned best employer at a national award ceremony.

Simon and Susan Andrews, of The Smile Spa, Yarm Road, Stockton, were presented with the Private Dentistry Award, recognising outstanding talent within the profession, at a ceremony in London.

The Smile Spa was also named runner-up in the Best New Practice category and for Best Smile Makeover.

Smile Spa treatment co-ordinator Michelle Honeywell said: “Everyone at the practice is delighted as the successful entry for this category was a true team contribution.

“It was such a surprise to win and also to be named runner-up.”

Meanwhile a Tees Valley shop has beaten off competition from the likes of Jasper Conran, Virgin, House of Fraser and Gap to win a major national award.

The JD store, situated in Middlesbrough’s Mall shopping centre, scooped the Best Instore Branding gong at the Visual Merchandising and Display Awards in London.

The store has been open a year since relocating to The Mall from Linthorpe Road and has gone from strength to strength.

Branch manager Tony Hall said: “We’re delighted to have won the award. It’s a tremendous boost for everyone who works in the store.”

The award is also a big boost for The Mall itself, which undertook a major redevelopment of the complex in 2006.

The Mall’s marketing manager, Laura McDermott, said: “It’s brilliant to see JD beating off such stiff competition from other big names in the UK and international retail world to win this national recognition. It just shows that The Mall is right up there with the best shopping complexes anywhere.”
