THE Newcastle office of international law firm Eversheds has responded to the growth in construction and redevelopment in the region by expanding its construction team.
The law firm has taken on Michael Conroy Harris as senior associate and Chris Campbell as solicitor with a view to developing construction work, particularly the environmental aspects.
Mr Conroy Harris, previously head of construction at Laytons, has worked with developers, institutions, Government departments, construction companies, consultants and in a wide range of commercial developments, PFI transactions and engineering projects. Before qualifying as a lawyer in 1996, he practised as a chartered surveyor, so has been involved with the construction industry for over 20 years.
He said: “The opportunity to relocate professionally to Newcastle was too good to miss and, since joining the team, I have become involved in a number of complex projects, including a major redevelopment for a regional educational establishment and a number of projects for a major developer.
“The scale of regeneration in the region is impressive and I am excited about the prospect of contributing to key projects.”
Mr Campbell joins Eversheds’ construction and engineering team as a newly qualified solicitor. He has a range of experience on contentious and non-contentious work. Chris moved from Leeds to join the team.
He said: “I chose Eversheds because of the strength and reputation of the construction team and its position as a leading national and international firm. I was also impressed with Eversheds’ emphasis on continuous professional development.”
