Anne is the builders’ Achiever of the Year

THE managing director of a North-East builders’ merchants has won one of the country’s top industry awards.

Anne Ganley, boss of Sunderland-based Thompson Building Centres, is Builders’ Merchants Achiever of the Year.

The award recognised the fact that Mrs Ganley has taken her company from strength to strength in a competitive environment.

“The impressive growth in the business is due to Anne’s drive, initiative and vision as well as her ability to tactically overcome obstacles,” the judges said.

Thompson’s commitment to their local community, the company’s employee share scheme and Anne’s work within the industry itself were also given as reasons why she had been the clear winner in this particular category.

The Builders’ Merchants Awards for Excellence are seen as the industry’s benchmark for quality. Anne’s win is reflected in the continued success of the company, which now operates in Sunderland, South Shields, Durham, Newcastle and Gateshead and recorded record sales for October.

“It’s always an honour to win an award and especially when it is one given out by your peers, which this is,” said Anne. “I know how respected the Builders’ Merchants Awards are within the industry and it shines a spotlight on Thompson’s as well as showing to our staff that their dedication and hard work has also been recognised.”
