The company, at Coundon near Bishop Auckland, has already seen its sales grow as a result of the Government’s Low Carbon Buildings Programme, which makes grants of up to £2,500 to homeowners installing solar panels.
The firm, set up by experienced industry professionals Karen Jones and Sean Collier, is also bidding to fit the green technology on new build housing projects in the North East.
Mr Collier said: “A large proportion of the construction industry has been calling for a feed-in tariff such as those found in other European countries for some time now, and the recent announcement by the Government shows that they have listened to us. It will stimulate growth of the industry, providing much needed jobs whilst reducing the carbon emission of homes.
“The new tariffs mean that solar power has become more of an attractive investment, and boosted by the availability of a £2,500 grant available until April next year, we are urging homeowners to install systems without delay.
“Although it is a difficult time to be involved in the building trade at the moment, we would not have set up in this area if we did not think it had huge potential. With Government incentives such as these, this potential looks like being realised pretty soon.”
