Plans in the pipeline to recruit youngsters at SES

DESPITE the fact that 170,000 workers have been made redundant in the construction industry in the past 12 months, York-based building services company SES has committed itself to helping the next generation, by appointing 20 youngsters to its apprenticeship programme this year.

Apprentices at SES

Robert and Tom Murray are the latest to join SES in the North East and will be based out of the North Shields office as part of the firm’s “Advanced Modern Apprentice” programme.

The firm, which now employs 150 workers in the North East, has produced skilled operatives across all disciplines, including electricians, plumbers, mechanical engineers and project managers, all with site-ready skills.

Steve Joyce, operations director for SES, North East said, “This year’s intake of apprentices will join teams working on different flagship projects in the area, including Hartlepool LIFT, Rockcliffe Hall Hotel & Spa, local BSF projects and Teesside University.”

Aged from 16 to 22, the new recruits will be trained in all aspects of heating; ventilation; plumbing and electrical installation at Leeds College of Building.
