Rok technician stars in corporate film

A TECHNICIAN from the Newcastle offices of national building firm Rok has secured his own 15 minutes of fame by starring in a corporate film.

Paul Clarke

Paul Clarke, 55, has swapped tools for cameras as the star of a new film promoting innovative working practices at the company, with his star turn being seen across the UK by Rok colleagues as the company begins to communicate changes to its workforce.

Mr Clarke was selected from hundreds of technicians to appear in the film – The Way We Work – which follows Paul through a working day and highlights where the changes will increase productivity, reduce paperwork and quality of service.

During the film, Mr Clarke, who lives in Washington, also conducts an interview with Rok plc chief executive, Garvis Snook, to find out how The Way We Work will benefit him, his colleagues, customers and the whole business.

Mr Clarke, who has been a Rok technician for four years and has 20 years experience as a painter and decorator, was quick to take up the challenge despite having no previous acting experience – and even persuaded his wife Elizabeth to make a cameo appearance.

He said: “I am pleased to be able to help with such an important project for Rok and one that will have a positive impact on the business in the near future.

“This was something very new to me, but great fun. I’ve never acted before so it was a bit nerve-wracking at first but, once I got into it, it became a lot easier.

“I think I’ll stick to the painting and decorating, though, in the future.”

Mr Snook said: “The Way We Work is a very practical way to develop the business and the film is the perfect medium to get that across to our colleagues around the business.

“Paul proved to be an impressive leading man and his passion for his work and for Rok comes across very clearly in the film.

“The creation of these innovative working practices and the introduction of new technology into the business will ensure that Rok is better placed for the future and delivers a consistently high-quality service.”
