The service was originally built around quantity surveying and estimating, but is now being developed for the construction market as a whole.
Mr Mason, who has worked for 20 years in the construction and renewable energy sector, said: “Placing tenders can be a costly business when tender documents are sent out in hard copy format to selected subcontractors. Asktobi lets registered members place tenders online and store any documents for free.
“The site allows the complete supply chain, from quantity surveyors and building contractors to subcontractors and industry professionals, to benefit by managing projects and tenders through a virtual online community.”
Mr Mason said that he had already received a significant amount of interest from the construction sector, with contractors keen to save time and money as they begin to recover from the recession.
He now hopes to add 1,000 registered contractors over the next three years and said that he was busy developing a number of additional services for the site.
He said: “The main pull of the site is the free e-tendering service, but, overall, the site, which will grow with its members, aims to be a portal for the construction industry. The more people use it, the more valuable it will become to them.
