THE North East offices of a construction, infrastructure and design company has helped its parent company maintain its overall turnover, thanks to a number of public sector schemes.
Morgan Sindall Group, which employs around 100 staff at offices in Belmont Business Park, Durham, has announced pre-tax profits of £51.3m for the year ended December 31 2010, down only slightly from £51.5m in the previous year.
Revenues for the period stood at £2.1 billion, down from £2.2 billion, while the group's forward order book currently stands at £3.6billion, which is up from £3.2 billion in 2009.
Key projects for Morgan Sindall in the North East include a £14.8m scheme to create Wakefield Civic Offices for Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and a £12.4m contract to create two new primary care centres in Doncaster for Doncaster Community Solutions. On Teesside, Morgan Sindall is undertaking an £8.1m project to deliver a high-quality academic building for Teesside University in Darlington.
In addition, Morgan Sindall and joint venture partner Grontmij secured a second AMP5 framework from Yorkshire Water.
The five-year asset management programme, worth an estimated £75m, will involve the delivery of clean water and waste water projects from feasibility and design and construction, to commissioning and handover.
Graham Shennan, managing director of Morgan Sindall, said: “Last year saw the formation of the enlarged Morgan Sindall business which brought together our design, construction and infrastructure services expertise. This move places the company in an even stronger position to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
