SITE managers working for housebuilder Barratt North East have scooped awards for the best-run building sites in Britain.
Andy Dawson, Graeme Simpson and Mark Summersgill have won the Pride in the Job (PIJ) Quality Awards for excellent standards of workmanship, while colleague Adrian Irwin, who works for sister company David Wilson Homes, also picked up a Quality Award.
Dawson is in charge of the Burton Woods development in Spennymoor; Simpson is site manager at Mandale Park, Thornaby; Summersgill looks after The Limes, Coxhoe; and Irwin is site manager at Riverside Crescent, Blaydon.
The Pride In The Job awards are organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) and are among the most prestigious in the industry.
It is the third year running that Summersgill has won a Quality Award, the second year running for Simpson, while this is the eighth NHBC award won by Dawson.
The winners were awarded their gongs after the NHBC carried out a series of spot-check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.
More than 13,000 site managers throughout Britain were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety, with 400 awards presented nationally.
NHBC chief executive Imtiaz Farookhi, said: “Pride in the Job promotes best practice in housebuilding, thereby continually bettering the construction quality of new homes year on year for homeowners and their families.
“Winning a PIJ award at any level has become an accolade well worth having, marking the recipient out as a top performer. All the shortlisted site managers have shown true diligence and commitment to producing the best quality homes possible.”
Mike Roberts, managing director of Barratt North East said: “Once again our site teams have shown they are among the best in the business and I am extremely proud of their achievements.
“The awards are not only recognition of their skills and dedication, but also give added reassurance to our buyers. They are the most coveted and most respected in the housebuilding industry because sites are examined at every stage of progress by NHBC inspectors.
“Standards are higher and competition is keener than ever before, which underlines the care and skill put into the construction of our new homes.”
