Homes plan for former DSS site

MUSE Developments has announced that a planning application for 125 new family homes on the site of the former Emerson House DSS offices Washington has now been submitted to Sunderland council.

Designed to meet the needs of the local community, the development will provide a range of housing types to meet demand from first-time buyers, families and the elderly.

The plans include extensive green spaces and high-quality landscaping, all of which provide a fantastic opportunity to regenerate land that has lain derelict.

Simon Dew, senior development surveyor at Muse said: “112 construction jobs will be created in building these homes and the new residents will generate an additional £2m spending each year, which is a great opportunity for the local community.”

Philip Barnes of planning consultants Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners said: “The scheme has been overwhelmingly supported by the local community, with 86% of residents supporting our proposals. The new housing will address the latent demand for family homes in Washington.”
