Yuill Homes pair are top again in building site awards

TWO Yuill Homes staff members have been recognised for their exceptional site management skills after winning the National House Building Council’s Pride in the Job Quality Award (NHBC) once again.

Project manager Neal Hutcheon and site manager Steve Cook have once again proved they are among the best in the business by winning the NHBC Quality Award which aims to find Britain’s best-run building sites.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Hutcheon has been presented with a NHBC Quality Award, while Cook celebrates receiving the award for the third year running.

Hutcheon, who has worked for Yuill Homes for more than 20 years, said: “It’s a fantastic feeling to have won this award for the fifth year running. It’s an award which recognises standards of excellence in the trade nationally so I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved.

“Credit also must go to the whole team at Yuill Homes who produce great-quality work day in, day out on site.”

Cook, who has worked at Yuill Homes for nine years after starting his career on a youth training scheme in building and maintenance, said: “I’m really proud to receive this award for the third year in a row.

“To be acknowledged in this way is not just a great achievement personally, but is also a fantastic reflection of the excellent work which has been put in by the whole team.”

Hutcheon won his NHBC Quality Award for his work over the last 12 months at Yuill Homes’ High View development in Blaydon and Cook for his work at College Gardens, Billingham.

The pair will now go forward into the next stage of the competition to be in with a chance of clinching the coveted Seal of Excellence award – which Neil has won twice previously – before going forward for the North East title of Regional Award Winner.

David Mullins, managing director at Yuill Homes, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Neal and Steve have once again been recognised for the excellent work that they and their teams have consistently delivered at their respective developments.

“For them to have won this well- respected award now for a number of successive years is a truly great achievement and indicates the consistent levels of our offering as a business, in line with our company ethos of high quality and excellent customer service as seen among all our employees.

“We wish both Neal and Steve luck in the next stage of the competition.”

The duo were assessed across 38 areas of site management including leadership, workmanship, staff welfare, health and safety and technical expertise and were tested on technical knowledge, quality control and consistency in the build process.

Judged by a panel of independent experts over an 12-month period, the awards are the defining seal of approval for buyers, who can relax in the knowledge that the home they are buying has met exceptional housebuilding standards.
