A NEW charitable organisation is working hard to smarten up the business community as it aims to clean up in support of the region’s charities.
North-east dry cleaning firm RML, better known for dry cleaning brands Jonathans, Luxdon and Euroclean, has launched Cleaners for Causes – a new corporate cleaning service which raises money for charities spanning the region.
The company, which has successfully pioneered retail dry cleaning services through charity shops, will now visit offices and industrial centres to offer convenient, door-to-door dry cleaning and laundry services, as well as carpet and office furniture cleaning packages.
A proportion of the money raised will go directly to North-east charities and there is no administration fee charged. Charities involved so far include Butterwick Hospice Care, St Oswald’s Hospice in Newcastle and Heel & Toe in Durham City.
The organisation is keen to encourage interest in the charitable services among North-east businesses, small or large, office or industrial, in all parts of the region.
Ed Lebbon, the director of Cleaners for Causes, said: “We have been working with local charities for some time and, having spoken with their corporate supporters, it was obvious to us that there was demand for a professional and well-priced service that drove charitable revenue, built charitable awareness and met corporate social responsibility goals.
“Our service vehicles can visit all manner of workplaces, from offices to industrial sites and village garages, picking up clothing, curtains, covers and workwear, so any firm or employee can get involved, no matter how small. Our billing systems also allow us to produce a bespoke invoice that tracks how much each individual customer is raising for Butterwick Hospice, or whichever charity they’re supporting.”
Butterwick Hospice Care serves the communities of Teesside, County Durham, North Yorkshire and Wearside, providing pain and symptom control, end of life, respite, day and home care, complementary therapies, bereavement care and family support free of charge to children and adults.
The charity incorporates Butterwick Hospice in Stockton, Butterwick House Children’s Hospice, also in Stockton, and Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland.
Chief executive Graham Leggatt-Chidgey said: “Cleaners for Causes has been providing excellent dry cleaning services from several of our high street shops for some time.
“The funds raised through this scheme will be very welcome and extremely important in our efforts to meet the needs of local people. “
